By luck..and mystery...I wound up with his report of the operation that earned him the Knights Cross. It is the document he carried on him. Along with it, I have all the medals he was awarded. A foreign exchange student  from Germany managed to send the items to me after she went back to Germany. I never had the award document translated until yesterday ... WOW, he was quite the Soldier.  wish I had a good picture of him in Uniform !! Both WW2 and in post war...
